Thunderstorms and a Gun-Toting Robot
Wow, it’s thundering here. I think we had a thunderstorm earlier in the week, too. Yeah! I like thunderstorms, just so long as I’m not out in ’em. I hope it cools things off; we’ve been having 90°F heat here.
Didn’t do much interesting today. Woke up earlier than usual, but didn’t go to the gym. Went into Chinatown, had brunch at Ten Ren Teahouse, picked up some Golden brand quinacidrone red acrylic paint (a color Liquitex, my usual brand, doesn’t seem to make) and some Flow Aid fluidifiant (something that increases the flow of diluted acrylics), then went across the street to the industrial plastics store to get a 6 oz flip-top bottle so I can mix up a batch of diluted fluidifiant. One of these days I’m going to have to stop just buying stuff and start actually using it; need to clear off the top of the ugly black cabinet, break out my cutting board and x-acto knife, and chop those sheets of illustration board and watercolor board down to a reasonable size.
Went up to the St Marks Starbucks for some iced tea and air conditioning. Decided I’ve been doing too much drawing from life recently, and needed to get back to doing stuff out of my head. Doodled out this little robot guy, which I then scanned and colored in Photoshop:
