Oh, man! I must surely go out and do some life drawing soon, else I may die. There’s actually a place ’round here that holds life drawing studios on Wednesday nights; if they charge significantly less than Spring Studio, I may have to skip out on NYRSF a couple times.

I cashed in my store credit for today’s comics haul:

Finder #33: This is (I think) the second issue of the current arc, “The Rescuers”. I also think this is the first time we’re seeing someone ask Jaeger to do some actual finding! I’m confused about part of the plot, but expect all will be made clear. Carla’s using a new technique, looks like she’s layering some pencil in among the ink. I don’t think I like it, but it may grow on me. I suspect she’s doing it as a time-saver.

Demo #2: Written by Brain Wood, drawn by Becky Cloonan. I bought this before noticing that it was a #2. Haven’t gotten to read it yet. Update: OK, read it. It works nicely without the previous issue. I don’t know if there’s a story that spans issues, or if each is a separate story. Another update: Ah, of course he’s got an LJ. Yeah, it’s twelve separate stories.

Powers “Anarchy”: The first collection to come out since I decided to drop Powers down to collection-only. Haven’t read this yet either. Update: Turns out this was an arc I read in pamphlet. And I think there’s at least one more arc I’already read still to go. They really aren’t very quick about getting the trades out.

Rock on. You know what I wish? I wish they'd sell the ashcans that come with the comics seperately. 'Cause there are some different notes in them then are in the trades, and you don't get them unless you buy the comics in packs of three. Gr. (I'm only SLIGHTLY obsessed. Really.)

Things I wanna know: What's up with the skeptic head kitchen woman? Is the new baby supposed to be a reincarnation of the dead baby? Jaeger didn't say anything WHY? Can I pet the poor butler doggy?

I've dropped everything but girl genius to collection only (and that, I'm sorry to say, is due to gimmcrackery and their, um, vague publishing schedule (Astro City, the other great comic that comes out whenever, is at least reliably collected once an arc manages to finish)

Hell, I don't think I've ever seen Blue Monday or Courtney Crumrin in pamphlet.

I think the only things I’m getting in pamphlet regularly are Finder and Grant Morrison’s New X-Men, and I’ll drop the latter when Morrison leaves. Other than that, pamphlets are for trying stuff out.

I first saw Blue Monday when I was visiting Seattle in 2000; it was a pamphlet. (Yeah, of course I had to buy comics. It was new comics day.)
