Hat trick

From Tapped, a story about Illinois GOP Senate candidate Jack Ryan. His wife’s suing for divorce. Why? Because — she says — he three times took her on “surprise trips” to sex clubs and she didn’t wanna:
Respondent asked me to perform a sexual activity upon him and he specifically asked other people to watch. I was very upset. [...] People were having sex everywhere. I cried. I was physically ill. Respondent became very upset with me and said it was not a ‘turn-on’ for me to cry.

His unlucky wife’s name? Jeri Ryan. Yes, that Jeri Ryan.

Sex, politics, and a sci-fi angle; it’s the ultimate weblog post!

Well he really should have brought up the subject *before* going to the sex club. He probably thought, "Hey, she plays Seven of 9 in that skin-tight outfit, she's hot to trot!" Dolt.

On the other hand, the article I read said that they had only good things to say about eachother these days, and wish that the public would stay out of their divorce papers for their son's sake.

As I read the article, she sued for divorce, and got it, something in the range of five years ago. The reason that this stuff is in the news now is that they unsealed the testimony, despite objections of both parties, because he's a candidate for public office.

Truth is, I saw the story somewhere else, which probably had a more complete version of the story; looking at the actual link you used, there isn't much in the way of background information there.

Meanwhile, there is a somewhat successful politician in Ohio, a Democrat in this case, who is married to Kate Mulgrew. I can't recall if he ran for Senate or for governor, but he didn't do too well. Mulgrew, however, has done commercials for him, trading on her fame

Did he say, "Resistance is futile"?
