The furniture workout
I’ve been slacking off on the exercise for the past few weeks, in anticipation of devoting myself to it once I’ve moved into the new place (just a few blocks from a NYSC branch I still haven’t visited), but I got my workout today, helping
ladymondegreen move. Got there around 4 PM, well after most of the other folks (most of whom, I suspect, have LiveJournals, but whose usernames I don’t know) had shown up, but not too late to help move the Amazing Neutronium Sofabed and the Awful White Thing Whose Drawers Wouldn’t Come Out into the U-Haul at the input end of the exercise. Then, of course, came the output end, which involved narrow stairways for added challenge. We finished weak and quivering, but did get the deed done. I’ll ache tomorrow. Two down, one to go, and I should be the easiest, since most of my stuff’s staying where it is. I think the only thing I’m moving now that’ll take two people to carry is my bed. I’m aiming for Wednesday, but I’ll have to check with my ride.
Oh, these three guys were sitting across from me on the subway ride over to Jersey. The bald guy was lots of fun to draw. The guy with the tall cap moved too much for me to get his face right.
Twenty-seven minutes past midnight and I still don’t know whether we’ve got a transit strike. Oh, wait, they’ve suspended the strike deadline, which means they’ve made progress.
Oh, and bad news: Al Gore has announced that he’s not in the running for the ’04 presidential election. Worse, this means that Lieberman can run. I’ve no intention of voting for a creepy religious conservative for president, even if he is Jewish.
