Waiting for Buffy to end
May. 14th, 2003 01:50 amAnother week, another lame episode of Buffy. Not that it didn’t have its cool moments, but in general, eh.
First question: Where the heck did those three uber-vamps come from? Don’t they come through the seal? The seal which was closed a few weeks back by Andrew’s tears? (Though it probably wouldn’t have have been a bad idea for Xander to have backed a cement mixer up to it and let pour with something quick-drying.)
OK, we’ve got an explanation for why Buffy’s ability to fight Caleb seems to vary so much — he’s getting charges of power from the First, and they fade over time. He does better when he’s ready for her, because he’s probably just been topped off.
Wheelchair fight. Hee. Nice scene between Anya and Andrew, a bit of seriousness for two characters who are pretty much just used for comedy relief.
This whole bomb thing just seems contrived and unnecessary, a way of knocking Faith out of the way so Buffy can come back. Why did we need to have Buffy go away to begin with? I feel like we’ve wasted two episodes for no reason.
Just occurred to me this afternoon: Didn’t Dawn make a few friends at school early this season? We haven’t seen them since, have we? In fact, Dawn in general seems like a wasted opportunity. Joss had said he was introducing her to get back into the high school envornment that made the show work for its first three seasons, and we’ve seen pretty much nothing of that.
