I haven’t been writing much recently, have I? OK, here’s what’s going on in my life:
Fitness: Not much progress, some regress. I’ve been weighing in at 269-271 the past few days, which isn’t happy-making. I haven’t exercised much since Thursday. I’d be falling into despair if I couldn’t actually see the progress I’ve made — I look in the mirror, and I’m pretty sure I’ve lost fat around my chest and shoulders. I think I’ve lost an inch off my waist, but I can’t find the exercise entry where I last wrote down that measurement. (50" now.)
I’ve also been eating too much. I think I’m gonna make a conscious effort to cut way the heck down on my pasta consumption. More protein! I’ve got those nice chicken sausages I picked out at Costco on Sunday.
Art: At GC on Friday, some folks were sitting around watching Lilo & Stitch. I wandered in and out; I’d seen it on the big screen, so didn’t feel a strong need to watch all of a fuzzy bootleg on someone’s laptop. But after watching the opening, an SF comic idea that had been long-dormant in a neglected corner of my brain woke up, stretched, ambled to center stage, and shoved the fantasy idea I’d been nurturing out of the way. Over the past few days it’s absorbed a few bits of other ideas I’d had scattered about my hard drive. It grabbed a background detail, popped it inside-out, and turned it into a major chunk of premise. It’s been serving up characters and even bits of dialog. Tonight a protagonist introduced herself, complete with a name, a family, a job, and a personality — that’s never happened before. (I think hanging around with
cadhla is doing me good.) I’ve been doodling facial studies and trying to figure out if my premise is too similar to that of Miracle of Science. I’ve still got some serious set design ahead of me. And I need a plot for the first story arc.
