Wahoo! Today, for the first time in over a decade, I painted! A real painting, on canvas (well, canvas board) with acrylics and brushes and everythng, with figurative subject matter! I pulled a trio of brightly-colored hot Jamaican peppers out of my fridge (I had bought them eariler in the week for just this purpose), set up a small still life, and went to it. Not entirely satisfied with the results, but I can see that in some ways I’ve imporved since my school days. I’ll scan it in tomorrow night, after it’s fully dried and I’ve looked up how to upload images.

Here’s the promised painting of Jamaican hot peppers in acrylics. I’ve got mixed feelings about it. In retrospect, my choice of pthalo blue for underpainting color was a mistake, as was my use of outlining (covered up in black). I think I’ll try just green peppers next time, and work my way up to the brightly-multicolored ones.
