There’s an excellent seven-page interview with Carla Speed McNeil (creator of Finder, the best comic currently being published) on the indy Magazine website. Here’s a bit about the Nyima, the leonine people who feature in the second story arc, “King of the Cats”:

Human geneticists have not been able to find genetic 'tags' in them that would prove conclusively that they are descended from constructs, but that doesn't mean they aren't. Same goes for other odd people living outside of the cities, like the cow-horned Huldres and the centaurs, and a few other groups which have odd genetic anomalies from generation to generation. What IS known is that a human woman can be made pregnant by a Nyiman king, but her offspring will be straightforwardly Nyima. Human wives are powerful status symbols among the Nyima... but that's a whole 'nother story.

I was complaining to a friend a few weeks back that the trade paperback collections don’t reproduce the issue cover art. Turns out there’s a page devoted to the covers on the Lightspeed Press website.
