Sucky day

I have declared today a sucky day, in advance of any actual serious suckage. I just feel like the world is getting ready to crush me to paste and wipe me from its meaty paws. I couldn’t bring myself to exercise this morning, even though I still weigh 270 pounds, and don’t think I’ll make my goal of 265 by month’s end. It’s humid, so everything feels soft and moist, and I spent much of the morning with the unsettling feeling that I could curl my toes and carve up sections of the floor like cheese with my toenails.

Most of this is probably because of the workmen next door shaking the whole damn house and keeping me from getting more than about five hours of good sleep. They don’t work weekends, so I’ll probably be fine tomorrow. But today, I pretty much want to declare the whole month a do-over.

Everything happens at once

Our new downstairs neighbor is moving in (a task which involves having an enormous moving truck parked outside, doing ugly things to the minimal traffic flow) at the same time that plumbers are vivisecting our bathroom. And in ten minutes, cadhla and I leave for the Port Atrocity.

And I used the bathroom without realizing that the water was off and now I can’t wash my hands! Ack ick arg ew irmp arnk! Hate this feeling hate hate hate hate! (Turns out I’m just a wee bit obsessive-compulsive about this. I’ve taken some of the edge off by moistening a paper towel in our water pitcher and rubbing my hands with it.)
