Updates to my web comics menu since last I mentioned it:

Added:

Orneryboy: The adventures of a guy, a gal, and their pet zombie. Both funny and nice to look at, a rare combination. Downside: For some odd reson, even though it’s a static strip without any animation, it’s implemented as a Flash app, which makes it hard to link to individual strips.

Desert Rocks: Fantasy-world travelog. Reminds me a bit of Demonology 101. In fact, i think I found it through Faith’s Links page.

Haiku 5-7-5: Crime comic with haiku, by Enrico Casarosa. Only five pages so far; he updates slowly.

Return to Sender: Not actually a recent addition, but I just discovered today that she’s been updating again! Weird horror comic with slapstick violence.

Outsider: I was about to delete this one, but it’s just added a few pages too! Space opera story with nice anime-style art, but moving very slowly.

Subtracted:

Butternut Squash: Yeah, it’s got beautiful art, but half the time he misses the weekly updates, and it’s rarely funny.

Scare-O-Deleria: A short-lived backup comic by John Allison of Scary-Go-Round (which I highly recommend). He seems to have dropped it.

Yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] akawil, [livejournal.com profile] ladymondegreen, and I celebrated the new year with a trip out to the Indian neighborhood near Journal Square for some vegetarian dosa and curry. They had Indian shows running on the satellite TV, mostly with lots of singing and dancing, though we came in towards the end of a low-end comedy/action movie (or TV show). I understand most Indian movies are musicals; I wonder what Hollywood action movies would be like now if directors had been inspired by Bollywood instead of Hong Kong. All singing dancing Matrix!

Today there was some confusion over where Games-Club-in-Exile would be held, so I wound up just staying home. (I’d missed the previous two GCs, but got in a bit of gaming at the party on Wednesday, so I wasn’t jonesing too hard.) I hung out at Ground for a while and finished inking this drawing I’d started after dinner last night:

Speaking of the confusion, there’s a dynamic in online communication that some people seem not to have grasped. On arguments )
