Among the four titles Marvel’s planning to release in digest-sized TPB (priced at $7.95) in April are two that I’d been meaning to pick up: Sentinel and Runaways. The latter is the only one I’ve actually read — it’s about the children of a group of supervillains who discover this fact in the first issue. The former, well, it just looked like it might be interesting.

GC-in-E at Stephen’s place. Played Arkham Horror, a Lovecraftian boardgame, one of those sloppy RPG-like boardgames that has lots of randomly-assigned elements that can hand one player victory by sheer luck. It was fun, but took a bit too long between turns.

I also played (and handily won) a game of Cathedral with the nice wooden pieces. It’s coming back into print, by the way.

And, of course, Puerto Rico. I managed to get the Office, both Markets, and coffee production going, but never quite managed to sell a coffee with both markets active. This was also the first time I tried taking the Wharf; I hadn’t quite built up enough production to take advantage of it. The game ended when [livejournal.com profile] kent_allard_jr was Governor and took Builder and bought his third double-sized building, filling his town, and the rest of us decided to leave mayor untaken so he ended the game with only one of those three big buildings active.

We broke up after 3 AM, and stopped off at Veselka for food, finally finishing around 5. On the way home, my beard froze. It is currently 2°F.
