Still not quite ready
Dec. 30th, 2004 06:49 pmRocks: Pulling up the several-months-old script for the first Vasty Deep strip — that I’ve been procrastinating over because the dialog was lame and insufficiently funny — and improving the heck out of it with ten minutes of rewriting, to the point where if I can work out like two sentences in the middle I’ll be happy and ready to move on to layout.
Sucks: Noticing that a previously-innocuous joke at the end has been made wildly inappropriate in the wake of the recent tsunami.
Another sketch. Trying something new: Graphite pencil (mechanical, 0.5mm 2B lead), followed by watercolor pencil (Derwent Aquatone woodless), water to wash the color (Niji water brush), and then pen over that (Pilot Precise V5), and then some more water. All in a Moleskine sketchpad on a sesame seed bun.
( Another Melorne )
Not happy with the color saturation of those pencils. The original is a little more colorful than the scan, but not much. Next thing to try: Caran D’Ache Neocolor II.
