Dudes, Atkins rocks the house! Less than a week and I’ve lost nine pounds! That brings me down to 259, the first time below 260 pounds in my adult life! And without even exercising (though I really oughta get back to that).

Hi Avram, I don't know if you remember me; we met many years ago at a party at Valentine's Castle, and then more recently we exchanged email about Castle Falkenstein and tarot cards. Just wanted to say that I've been doing Atkins since Sept 2002 and it's worked out really well for me. It's a lot healthier than I thought it would be, especially the maintenance phase. At this point I'm not trying to lose weight, just to eat well and be healthy.

I hate to tell you this, but the first losses are usually water weight; don't expect to lose that fast in the long term. I really like this site for online support: http://forum.lowcarber.org/ There's a ton of information there and they're really nice about newbie questions. And watch for weird-ass Atkins side effects. A friend who really shouldn't be on it is losing weight but also dealing with gout.

Ya know, your posts about your workout routines actually got *me* to get off my ass and onto a treadmill.
