The Barenaked Ladies have done a cover of "Lovers in a Dangerous Time,"? Really? I mean, them and Cockburn, they're all Canadians and all, but, like, wow, man. That's so cool.
Damn' fine sketches, too. Wanna do some fanzine art, little boy?
Well, I was thinking of Chunga because of proximity to me, and my special relationship with the editorial team, and given that my own next fanzine is on hold pending sufficient funds, but indeed, you might do well to send a few fillos to any and all of the fanzines what use art -- Littlebrook, Vanamonde, Head, Floss, PLOKTA... You have fine black/white balance, a nice line, and very distinctive. Your work isn't like anybody I can think of who's currently doing that sort of thing, and thus, refreshing. I think of fanzines just because the upper sketch here shows a comic eye that seems very suited to the classic conception of fan art for fanzines.
Nah. The top one, the woman on the cellphone, was based on a photo that had just been hung in the coffee shop (which doubles as an art gallery). Loosely based — the photo showed a women who’d just spilled something on herself, and had her mouth open in shock. I went off in a totally different direction; my sketched woman doesn’t even look like the one in the photo.
The guy with the beard, I dunno where he came from.
