Yesterday’s sketches

Yesterday was so nice, I just had to get my sketch on. I’d been hankering to draw some architecture, and figured I’d go to Chinatown, but the WTC PATH train came first, and dropped me off near City Hall, and with the park so inviting and all those old buildings so handy, I drew there instead. Some trees were interfering with my line of sight, so I went for a vague, brushy rendering style, figuring I’d try to just capture the general shape of the buildings. I dunno if it worked. I’m not as happy with it as I was when I used a fine-line marker for this sort of thing.

I did go to Chinatown, but I couldn’t find a place to sit and draw, so I went up to the Starbucks at Astor Place and drew people (these two, and the long-haired gal up above):
