This isn’t all from today; some of these are months old.
I’ve been fiddling around with Derwent Inktense pencils and traditional pan watercolors, trying to get some rich color-mixing going on. It’s harder than I thought it’d be. Especially the (caucasian) flesh tones. Damn white people, such complicated skin!
All this stuff is ©2010 Avram Grumer.

Here you can see me messing about with the skin tones. The guy was done earlier in the week, with both Inktense pencils and pan watercolors; Winsor & Newtone Rose Doré works pretty well. The color tests on the right are just the pencils, done today, as practice for the drawing of the woman below.

I got a fairly good skin color here with just the Inktense pencils, but it’s for such a small area that it doesn’t really satisfy me.

Date: 2010-04-23 01:42 pm (UTC)The skin tone/color on the dude is terrific. It's good on the girl, too, but I think the pinkish wall behind her and the purplish shirt make everything a little too close in range.
