Comics on Tuesday
Sep. 10th, 2002 11:56 pmCastle Waiting was good, as always, though the flashback that constituted the last story arc was long enough that I’ve forgotten what was going on in the main storyline. I should pick up the collections.
Powers is kicking ass, literally, but what’s up with Walker’s hair? The new New X-Men is clearly a 9/11 tribute story, which explains why they rushed it out a week after the previous one.
The Filth #4 suffers a bit from Grant Morrison’s tendency to cram so much weird stuff into his comics that we wind up leaping between scenes without enough connective tissue to figure out what’s going on or why.
The JLA/Planetary crossover wasn’t good enough to make up for the fact that it took time away from getting out a new issue of Planetary.
There was a guy in Union Square with his painting stuff set up. He uses acrylics, and I was checking out his equipment — he uses a subdivided plastic box as a palette. He also uses a pigment marker in conjunction with the paints; I’d never though of using one of those on canvas, but it has potential.
After the raseff get-together at Revival (I’d almost forgotten about it, and clearly I’m not the only one, because there were only four of us this month) I picked up some more razors at K-Mart, then stopped off at the Strand to use the bathroom and wound up buying the Still Life and Figure & Portrait books in the PAiNT! series, cheeep ($10 each for books that normally go for $30 a pop)!
