New sketchbook
Jun. 3rd, 2002 10:26 pmYet another art purchase — a new sketchbook, 9x12 spiral-bound heavy-weight paper (100 lb, thick enough to deal with light watercolor applications, like what I do with my aquarelle pencils and Niji water brushes), smooth finish. Picked it up at NY Central; broke it in right after at the Starbucks on Cooper Square, making really quick sketches of people waiting on line. it performed admirably.
I wish there were more benches around in the Village so I could sit comfortably and sketch the buildings. It was such a nice day today, a perfect day for outside sketching.
On the down side, neither Tower nor Virgin had anything by the Ben Folds Five; neither did the used CD places I tried on St. Marks. First Pearl, now Tower and Virgin; when are large retailers going to understand that the only advantages they have over net.stores are speed and the ability for the customer to physically examine the wares, both of these being dependent on actually having things in stock when the customer comes in to shop. If I’m going to have to ask for a special order, I’m better off just going to Amazon, where the merchandise will show up right at my door.
