Filking in Queens

My roomies and I went to a house filk at the Queens abode of drcpunk and mnemex. Mnemex was using his net-connected laptop as a filk book, and sang one of my decade-old songs. At one point “Time in a Bottle” came up, and I vaguely remembered having written a parody of it, but it turns out I’d never put it online. I have now, but the proper formatting will have to wait till I’ve done some work on my site infrastructure. (That’s why you’ll see PHP error codes at the top and bottom of that page; I’m sort of in between site back ends.)

That reminded me of a shorter, but better, parody of the same song I’d tossed off in a comics newsgroup back in 2000. That one’s got a pun I’m still proud of.

I spent some time browsing through the filks directory on my hard drive, and wondering just what I’d been thinking. A “Pride of Chanur” filk about Ross Perot? What the fuck made that seem like a good idea?!
