Birthday celebrations

Friday: I showed up at CUGC around 9:30 PM or so. Said my howdies, watched people finishing up a game of Call My Bluff, started to wander around the corner to where the snack machines are, and there’s akawil doing shooing me away, with a cake box on the table behind him. It took them a few minutes to get the candles inserted and lit. Pretty good cake, though tough to cut with a plastic knife. Chris gave me a box of marzipan fruit and veggies. I’d never seen a marzipan parsnip before.

Saturday: Chris and I voyaged up to have dinner with my family at a steak house in Mamaroneck. Decent food, but not as good as our usual steak house, Ruth’s Chris. We discussed possible names for my sister’s expected baby (of as yet unknown sex), due in August. I suggested “Spongebob”. Chris said that names are supposed to commemorate the dead, and offered “Fourth Amendment”. On the way back to my place, by way of a confusing detour through Chinatown, we passed a neon sign store that didn’t have a neon sign!

Unspecified gender baby names... and Happy Birthday!

My friend is having a baby in March and this is a favorite pastime. Best names generated so far: Vinyl Prong, Intifadah Saxifrage, and Fuzzy Amadeus. I am also particularly fond of Cassiopeia Parcheesi.

You're not so old! Though one is never too young to *feel* old--I may have felt older as a world-weary teenager in college than I did in my early 30s.

The google link made me chuckle & reminded me about how Google-wacking affects itself, in a Heisenbergian sense, as soon as someone announces a successful result anywhere on the Web.
