Chibi goth chick

Hey, a chibi! All the cool kids are drawing chibis, so I figured I’d give it a shot. Actually, the eyes came to me first, the the rest followed from there. Mmm, overdone anime stereotypes....
I stopped off at Jim Hanley’s to see if they had the first volume of the TokyoPop translated Kare Kano (or His and Her Circumstances) manga. I liked the anime of this (the one or two eps I saw of it) a whole lot, so I want to check the manga out, even though one of the things I like about it is the way some of the more extreme manga conventions were translated into anime. Anyway, I saw volume 2 at Cosmic yesterday. I didn’t find any of it at Jim Hanley’s, so I bought the first collection of Charm School instead, because I just can’t leave a comics store without buying something.
At GC I played a game of Puerto Rico. I scored higher than I ever have before, but came in next-to-last. Still, pretty good game.

Date: 2003-03-08 07:03 am (UTC)If you'd like to see up through six, I've got that (That finishes the first arc, and introduces the first of their wacky, wacky friends). Likely, I'm also going to pick up the next couple of DVD volumes.
I noticed this in the first volume of the manga: The anime is marginally better, and according to sources, the gap widens as the manga gets stuck in a rut and the anime goes from one of the best things ever to completely mindblowing. I hope these sources are accurate...
If you want a good shoujo manga (COMPLETELY angstful: Shy painter-chick meets rough biker-dude; suicide, murder and mutilation are all major plot points), pick up MARS, also from TokyoPop. Or my other shameful shoujo, Peach Girl.
