Dr. William Gull (1816-1890) was Physician-in-Ordinary to Queen Victoria, and is thought by some to have been Jack the Ripper; Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell’s comic From Hell has Gull as the Ripper.

Wait, now whenever Spike hears “Early One Morning”, he becomes a berserk monster, attacking everyone near him? When we saw him kill a woman in “Conversations With Dead People” he seems quite calm and in control.

Wait, now whenever Spike hears “Early One Morning”, he becomes a berserk monster, attacking everyone near him? When we saw him kill a woman in “Conversations With Dead People” he seems quite calm and in control.

Well, every other time he heard the tune, the First was present and giving him other instructions. The song made him not-himself and the First was then guiding him in what to do each step of the way.

The Scoobies gave him the trigger, but no further direction. Thus, he was left animalistic.

Does that make sense?

Cool bit with Gull. But as for the consistency question, um, as with last new episode, I enjoyed this as a standalone, but it doesn't quite fit with what we saw before this season, let alone the other seasons. And really unimpressed with the Buffy Countdown -- only 8 Weeks Left -- And Next Week -- A Rerun!
