  • If I had a flooglehorn, I’d floogle in the morning,
I’d floogle in the evening, all over this land.
  • If John Philip Sousa were a costumed superhero in Gotham City, Commisioner Gordon could call him on the sousaphone when there was trouble.
  • The flooglehorn wasn’t invented by someone named Floogle, was it?
  • When Sousa invented the sousaphone (Chris tells me he didn’t, but couldn’t tell me who did, so I’m sticking with it as a working hypothesis), the very first song he played on it was a romantic number called “Watson, I Need You”.
  • Also some vague recollection of trying to rework “Chad Gad-ya” so it can be sung to “I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly”.

Turns out it’s actually spelled flügelhorn, but what fun is that?

Meanwhile, I’m staying over at my parents place again tonight. My father will drop me off near my consulting gig, then drive me home after with my massive backpack of clothes I picked up from Chris’s. I now have t-shirts and shorts and other warm-weather gear that would have been real handy the past couple days when it was 80°F, and not so much now that it’s in the 40s.
