OK, that wasn’t too bad. I mean, the whole season’s been a disappointment, but at least the last episode wasn’t any more of a disappointment. A few nice bits, but mostly just stuff that wasn’t an adequate payoff for seven years of buildup.

So, what exactly was that whole deal with Joyce and Dawn and “she won’t choose you”? What was so important about it that Joyce had to come all the way from the afterlife, struggling against a demon, to warn Dawn about it? (And no, I don’t believe it was the First disguised as Joyce.)

Why did Willow have to wait till the last minute to cast that spell activating all the Slayers? Couldn’t she have cast it the night before, so they’d be going in knowing it had worked? Yeah, it’s more dramatic this way, but it’s also bad planning by supposedly smart characters.

Hm, this’ll make it tough for Spike to show up on Angel next season. Unless that was disinformation from Joss.

I loved the D&D scene. I wonder if Giles played D&D when he was younger. And the scene with Faith and Wood was good. “I’m prettier than you.”

OK, now we know why they had that scene with Anya and Andrew last week — so anyone but Xander would care that she died.

Ah, so the seal was still closed. So where did those three übervamps come from that we saw last week?

[livejournal.com profile] cadhla has just reminded me why it means something that Anya died. I don’t know how I forgot, given last week’s dialog with Andrew.

If you insist that Joyce had to be Joyce, I don't see any answer to your question.

It seems likely that the First and the Bringers and other nasties could sense Slayers, and if there were suddenly a whole lot of them, they'd possibly be warned.

Wasn't the prophecy that an ensouled more-than-human champion would stop the apocalypse, destroy the minions of evil, and become human? I think that's a pretty interesting possibility, actually. (Well, OK, I'm particularly enjoying how I imagine it will mess with certain fanfic writers.)

Robin Wood rocks utterly. But the question is whether he was messing with Faith's head in the final bit, or not. ("Surprise.")

I live with someone who's on the Anya Appreciation Squad who would cheerfully enumerate the reasons that there was no danger that only Xander would care if she died, even without last week's amusement.

I do believe it was on Angel. Which works just fine, since he was the delivery boy, after all.

I wasn't a regular Buffy watcher.

The final ep left me singularly unimpressed and not feeling like I missed anything.

Keep in mind, the announcement has always been that James Marsters would be a regular on Angel, not that Spike would be a regular. They do have the option of recasting him in a different role. [And Joss&Co are just perverse enough that they might do so.]

BTW, did you notice they changed the animation for Grr!Arg! at the end? Made us smile.

This was my and Q's theory when we considered the casting news. It could be a hoot: JM with normal hair, without the fake accent, wearing anything but leather, playing someone completely unrelated to Spike? Funny on multiple levels, and also allow an excellent actor to do something else than be a lapdog.
