Finally! Just one day short of my deadline (270 by month’s end or I go on Atkins), the scale said 270 this morning. New deadline: 265 by the end of June.

  • Weight: 270
  • Dumbbell squats:
    • 15 reps with pair of 18-lb weights.
    • 15 reps with pair of 18-lb weights.
    • 15 reps with pair of 18-lb weights.
    • Standing quad stretch after each set.
  • Dumbbell straight-back straight-leg deadlift:
    • 15 reps with pair of 21-lb weights.
    • 15 reps with pair of 21-lb weights.
    • 15 reps with pair of 21-lb weights.
    • Hamstring stretch after each set.
  • Single-legged calf raise:
    • 20 reps with 9-lb weight.
    • Skipped the second set; the sun was shining straight down on me through the skylight over the stairs.
    • Step straight-leg calf stretch after each set.
  • Ab crunches:
    • 20 reps of Hot Point crunches.
    • 20 reps of Hot Point crunches.
    • 20 reps of penguin crunches.
    • 20 reps of penguin crunches.

I’m tempted to celebrate with fried chicken, but my eagerness to see the 260s wins out. At least today. To me, the 270s seem like almost 300, while the 260s seem like a bit more than 250.
