Yesterday didn’t turn out quite so sucky after all.

[livejournal.com profile] cadhla and I left around 4, getting to the Port Authority in plenty of time to meet [livejournal.com profile] ladymondegreen and [livejournal.com profile] akawil for their trip up to Boston. This left me with a few hours in which to wander down to the Union Square region for Games-Club-in-Exile. I stopped off at Midtown Comics and saw the Sidekicks Super Fun Summer Special that hadn’t shown up at Cosmic on Wednesday. I picked up that, and book 5 of X-Men Unlimited (“Ultimate War”); my account there is up to $70.

I also stopped off at Jim Hanley’s Universe, and saw a little booklet called The Art of Maya, by Enrico Casarosa, who’s been heavily influenced by Miyazaki. Stopped off at Starbucks for some coffee, sketched a girl who had a good hairstyle for the comics character I’m currently working on (NYC will hand you an inexhaustible supply of models if you can sketch quickly enough). Came up with a plot twist that’ll require me to bump what I’d been thinking of as “the first arc” down to second, and come up with something else to start off with to lay some groundwork. I’ve got an idea for that, but it’s still pretty vague.

Not much actual gaming at GC-in-E, though I did make up a character for The Dying Earth RPG, which gave me enough of a look at the rules that I figured out a couple of obvious minimax tactics.

Today, now, gray and rainy, has definite suck potential.

Good luck on it not sucking today, anyway (not sure aobut yesterday, but it's hard to make good wishes for the past stick).

And one of your Dying Earth minimax tactics was a flub -- the thing about buying weapons you don't plan doesn't work (the rule is actually that you get a boon if you are familiar with your weapon and your foe isn't familiar with -his-, not invovled with anyone being familiar with their opponent's weapon).
