Did you ever get to see one of his slideshow cartoon concerts? Man, I still feel privileged to have seen one. I'm pretty sure it was at a Seuling JulyCon, probably the one in 1975 just before he died. I was in the habit of bringing along my clunky cassette recorder and taping the panels, so I had audio of it for a while (heaven knows if that tape still exists after moving various times). The specific memory I have is of a story he told, through slides, that had him dancing on the moon (omg, just found a picture of him wearing in real life the purplish outfit (http://www.markbode.com/site/allpics/photos/picvaughn5.jpg) he drew himself in) and crying out in a heartbreaking way, "Mama, you made me a transvestite!"

Kids today. All the lasses who are drooling over Johnny Depp in PotC? The poor things missed out on Vaughn.

Y'know, I have NO CLUE who this guy is either, and you and I are pretty close in age, so I think it's more the person you're referencing than you. ;) Course I've been feeling like an old fart lately, so maybe it IS you. >;)
