I’ve suddenly got a craving. I want a bagel (pumpernickel, probably) with cream cheese and lox. Not that wussy nova stuff you folks out in the provinces have been tricked into calling lox, but the real stuff, belly lox, brine-cured and salty, almost impossible to find outside NYC, oh god, want it now, none of the places I know where to buy it are open late, there’s probably not a place on the planet open right this second where I could buy some, arg.

So no plumber yesterday. No plumber today either. What I did get today was a message from the management office, asking what time would be good for the plumber to come tomorrow (Thursday). We eventually settled on some time between noon and 3. I think this is just the investigative visit, and the actual heavy work visit will take place later.

The office thinks the leak will turn out to be caused by rain, for some reason, despite the fact that it wasn’t raining when I had the big leakage, and it didn’t leak all weekend while it was raining. They’re hoping that serious work will not be necessary. They’re wrong. I’m pretty damn certain that we’ll have to destroy the ceiling in order to save it.
