I’m moved! [livejournal.com profile] womzilla came by with his station wagon and we loaded up my bed and a bunch of other stuff and carted it off to Jersey City and got there just as Matt showed up to lend his strong back to the effort and it all got done pretty quickly. That hardest part was getting my boxspring around the bend from the living room into the narrow stairs leading up to my bedroom; for a while it looked like it was permanently lodged there and Kevin would be trapped in that little alcove and we’d have to drop food in to him till we got the boxes cleared away from the other side of the door into [livejournal.com profile] ladymondegreen’s room. But we gave it One Last Try and Worked Together As A Team and <pop!> it went and everything was easy after that.

Then Kevin drove us back into Manhattan for comics and dinner. The signs near the Holland Tunnel reminded us that it was Gridlock Awareness Day, and sure enough, New York was celebrating in traditional style. Drivers were out in the middle of intersections honking their holiday horns and chanting the old Gridlock carols — fuck fuck fucking stupid moron, where’d ya learn ta drive, yeah same ta you. The spirit of the holiday was in the air, nor all our ventilation could disperse it.

Crap crap crap! My TiBook has suddenly stopped working! I unplugged it to take it downstairs, and the screen went black and won't come back and it won't go to sleep either. Fuck!

I bought an AppleCare warranty plan when I first bought the machine back in August of 2001, but I don't remember how long it was for; probably just a year. And of course all the info is somewhere back in Brooklyn.

Update: OK, panic over. I phoned Tekserve for advice and info about bringing things in for repair and one of the things on the "Have you tried..." list -- pressing the power button and holding it down -- was something I hadn't tried, so I did, and bong rang the reboot chime and up came the display and now everything's lovely.
