Ahhhhhhh

One year ago today:

Sweat pooling. Bodily tissues liquefying. Fluids flashing to steam, blowing out through skin in bloody explosions. Boiled gasses flashing to plasma as high temperatures strip electrons away from atomic nuclei. Fundamental forces unifying, displaying operation of Grand Unified force as temperatures approach femtosecond-post-Big-Bang levels.

This year I’ve got actual, working air conditioning in my combined bedroom-studio. And we’re working on getting the lower floor cool, though even without AC it’s still cooler than my old apartment was. We need at least 13k BTUs; BJ’s had a 14k BTU Maytag air conditioner for a good price last Friday, but they were sold out on Sunday when I went over with akawil and ladymondegreen.

bugsybanana is perched on my bed right now, reading the first volume of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
