Voting problems in Florida, again. Remember those fancy new electronic voting machines? Well, it turns out that, after the 2002 Democratic gubernatorial primary, the Florida ACLU did a study that found that 8% of the votes were lost in 31 precincts in Miami-Dade county. An analysis by The Sun-Sentinel of Fort Lauderdale found that touch-screen machines were six times as likely as optical scan machines to record no vote. And then, after a couple of computer crashes, it turned out that all of the county’s vote data for that primary was lost.
