George W Bush demonstrated today that he’s not enough of a man to look former US Senator Max Cleland in the eye.

Cleland, who lost both legs and an arm in Vietnam, lost his Senate seat in 2002 after being smeared by an opponent who accused him of being unpatriotic and questioning his courage. Today he tried to visit Bush at his ranch in Crawford, Texas to personally deliver a letter from nine Senators asking Bush to condemn the false attacks on John Kerry by the “Swift Boat Vets”.

The Bush campaign, hearing ahead of time about the visit, had a roadblock set up.
