The notable thing probably isn’t that I finally (after about a year and a half since the last session) ran the Wander Angels campaign for the third time, but that the session ended with the monster undefeated, and a plot thread therefore ready for the next session, and that session already scheduled for November.

(And boy, how it was undefeated! After handing them fairly easy successes last session, I set the PCs up against something that could swat them aside without working up a sweat; just their luck it wasn’t interested in killing them.)

I made the mistake of ending the session by handing out a Major Clue to a mystery plot thread without having really made them earn it. Now that thread might peak too early; I’ll need to come up with some delaying tactics.

And it might not hurt to bring in a fourth player; I’ll have to think about that. On the other hand, we were short of table space as it was.

[livejournal.com profile] kent_allard_jr left around 6, and [livejournal.com profile] drcpunk and [livejournal.com profile] mnemex hung around for a bit and then we went into Manhattan to hang out with Beth and get pastries at Veniero’s and browse through book and comic stores. I picked up a couple of old issues of Mangazine for a buck each at St. Marks Comics. Having read one today, I’m glad I didn’t pay more.

Today I stopped in for the first time at Hudson County Art Supply, which just opened a couple of weeks back. (No web link; Google’s never heard of the place.) They carry Golden acrylics, which is my brand, and some good, cheap, gallery-edge canvases from France. (The kind with the staples on the back, instead of the sides.) All I bought that time was a fine-point marker for 80¢, but they’ll probably get more business from me eventually. I’ve been thinking I should paint more.

I did a bit of sketching at Ground, and James whupped me in chess again, despite my not falling for his Danish gambit opening and my developing a good attack position early on. I need to work on my pawn game, and on pressing the advantage when I’ve got it. Wouldn’t hurt to use my rooks more either.

Well, only Deirdre got the clue as of when we broke, and while she'll almost certainly tell Daisy, she's not so sure about wanting it to get to Action, and is seriously considering handing the amulet back to the folks she things owns it. Or maybe suggesting she or Daisy wear it to the pizza place.

I'd thought this was a clue you actively wanted to drop. Still, at the moment, the working hypothesis is that this isn't related to the Real Problem of the guy who whupped our asses, so, again from Deirdre's point of view, it's less something to Solve. In fact, there's been no indication that the Clue points to a Problem as such.

But I'm sure you can delay things -- heck, just have the teachers find out what the students are up to. It's not like they've been exactly subtle.
