Gym. Weights. Whew! The scale says 286.5 pounds, down from 289 yesterday and 288.5 Wednesday. I’ve been vibrating between 286 and 288 since I stopped gymming regularly a few weeks back; time to build up the Big Mo and smash through the lower end of that range!
That’s the second most frustrating thing about weight loss — that it’s so fucking incremental, that a day’s progress doesn’t really count till it’s backed up by a few more weeks’ progress. (The first most frustrating thing is that it’s just so damn difficult.)
I lifted 45 pounds (total, 22.5 on each arm) on the military press for both reps; I think I’m going to consider that a permanent increase in poundage. When I first started doing this, three (four?) years ago, I used the military press with no weights, just lifting the empty arms of the machine, and two reps took all of my strength and will, and left my muscles quivering and useless from the exertion.
