Another Long Sun thought
Jan. 29th, 2004 02:08 amOh, now that’s interesting! I was browsing through the archives of the Whorl mailing list, and I found a message listing the meanings of the names of the various Fliers from Long Sun.
Sumaire was one of the Fliers killed by the Trivigaunti. Her name supposedly means blood-sucker, leech, vampire.
She’s also — according to Sciathan, the Flier questioned by the Trivigaunti, and later rescued by Auk and Silk — the one of the Fliers best at gleacaiocht, their unarmed combat technique. Inhumi are stronger than humans, and lighter. I’m sure they’d make really good Fliers.
On the other hand, I imagine the Trivigauntis would examine the bodies of the slain Fliers; at the very least they’d strip them to examine their clothes to see if there were hidden controls for the propulsion modules. They’d have discovered if Sumaire was an inhuma, and asked Sciathan about it.
