Andrew Sullivan linked to a PDF file From U Penn’s Annenberg Public Policy Center with recent (like, yesterday) survey data on freedom to marry and a Constitutional amendment:

Would you favor/oppose an amendment to the U.S. Constitution saying that NO state can allow to men to marry each other or two women to marry each other?

%FavorOppose
Total41%48%
Republican57%35%
Democrat34%57%
Independent37%52%

Kevin Drum points out that the proposed amendment has almost no chance of passing:

After all, the ERA had upwards of 90% support when it was first proposed, but it stalled at 35 states even though it also had the advantage of being on the right side of social trends. FMA has much lower levels of support, is clearly on the wrong side of long-term trends toward greater tolerance of gays, and is a highly partisan issue. It's a loser.
