As I should have known, I was back up to 287 pounds this morning, which is kind of off-pissing, but not too, because I know I can work my way back down to 285 by the end of the week if I control myself.
Which I’m only doing a mediocre job of. Had a good workout session, the kind that leaves me feeling exhausted and stretched-out, and would have me feeling great the rest of the day if it weren’t so hot and humid. Had pizza and garlic knots for brunch, which isn’t as bad for me as it sounds, and Roma Pizza on Seventh makes wonderful garlic knots, but I also had a 20-oz Coke, and then later (while walking in Manhattan) another one, which is 500 calories right there. I’ve put myself on tea, water, and cherries for the rest of the day, and maybe some sugar snap peas if I feel like something green.
I went in to the city for paint — M. Graham’s tube watercolor, ultramarine blue, because I was fiddling around with watercolors last night and decided that I really like them a lot, and that the pthalo colors scare me a little. I also got another plastic pallette, and some masking fluid, and a couple of cheap brushes to go with it, and a bottle of blending medium.
I walked from Canal Street up to Union Square, stopping off for the art supplies, for a bandana to wrap around my head, and at Dean & Delucca in the hopes that they stock Simpkins mixed mint candies. No such luck; they have various Simpkins candies, but not the mixed mints. These were what I used to satisfy my craving for sweets back in 1999, when I had my first big weight-loss streak. They’re not dietetic, but they are substantial enough that just one candy (about 30 calories) will satisfy a sweet tooth for quite a while. I used to be able to get them at ABC Carpets, but not for some time now.
