A Wednesday

Up at 10:30 or so, weighed in at 285.5 (about what I’d expected), wimped out on going to the gym, ate a banana, dithered around the house, went out for wonton soup and a chicken quesadilla, headed into Manhattan, visited the 8th Street branch of Soho Art Supply, vacillated over buying a tube of M. Graham’s sepia watercolor, decided not to, went to the St. Marks Place Starbucks, had an iced tea, drew a molding, sketched a woman’s head, walked up to NY Central Art Supply, bought a pad of Fabriano Studio watercolor paper and a small cat’s tongue brush, walked to the Garden of Eden on 14th Street, found that they had Simpkins candies but not the mixed mints, also found that they were selling gelato at $1.50 for three scoops and got two scoops of banana and one of pistachio, ate the gelato while walking up to Cosmic Comics, on the way checked out the Japanese grocery where Daikichi Sushi used to be on 23rd Street, bought Boneyard #7 and Sheba vol. 3 #2 (which was pretty stupid since I don’t have vol. 3 #1) and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen vol. 2 #1, met Kevin, went to the Chinese restaurant, had some fried wontons, met Lisa and Fred and Helen (Tor’s new intern), went to Tor to work on The New York Review of Science Fiction, copy-edited submissions, met Teresa, chatted, came home, logged onto LiveJournal, wrote run-on sentence.

Your pages just surfaced when I hit the "random journal" button in a stray, restless moment -- & I really wanted to tell you how likeable you seem and how wonderful your drawings are...

Thanks. I've been meaning to do more drawings. That's part of what the Fabriano Studio pad is for. It's a big, thick pad of (relatively) cheap watercolor paper, giving me room to play around with watercolors without worrying too much about ruining good, expensive paper.

I was just thinking this morning that I should have arranged it to scan to REM's "The End of the World as We Know It", or maybe Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire".
