Random bullet points
Jul. 26th, 2002 12:40 am- I really spend far, far too much time in front of the computer.
- I’m thinking of fasting all day Saturday, just to see if I can do it. It’s a good day for it — I don’t have anything planned, I don’t go the gym on Saturdays (it keeps shabbat hours), my parents are taking me out to dinner on Friday, and I think I’ll be at a barbecue on Sunday.
- I need to be getting to the gym four or more days a week, not this one or two days thing I’ve been doing.
- Tim Powers kicks ass. (I’m most of the way through Declare.)
- So does Carla Speed McNeil. (I reread a chunk of Talisman today.)
- Mmmmm, cherries.
- Alizarin crimson and pthalo green combine to make a pretty good black.
- I need to work darker in watercolors.
- Cactus fruits have sweet flesh, but lots of little hard seeds.
- Wet paper dries out surprisingly quickly.
- You wouldn’t think there’s be an upside to the guy in the upstairs apartment hammering relentlessly on something for five to ten minutes, but there is: The vibrations can bring a burned-out light bulb in a ceiling lamp back to life. (They’re special full-spectrum bulbs that I need to travel into Manhattan to replace; naturally, one of them chose to burn out after a multi-day stretch of going in to the city, within a few blocks of Just Bulbs, every day.)
