Water

Weighed in at 284 this morning. Got up early enough to get to the gym, do treadmill, weights, and stretching, and get out shortly after noon. Yeah!

Called and emailed Chris a few times to see if she was going to Queens, but got no answer (or busy signals). I guess she just stayed home and blogged.

I went up to Moshe’s place for the barbecue (bringing chicken sausages and potato buns) and ate too much. Ooog! I had another energy-drop period some time after eating. Hmm.

On the way home I found myself waiting for the Q train on a broiling Times Square subway platform. I wanted something cold to drink, but was aware that I’d already taken in too many calories today, so for the first time in my life I bought bottled water. It wasn’t as cold as I’d have liked, which meant I was actually able to taste it, and it turns out that Poland Spring isn’t very good. Now I know why ordinary NYC tap water beats out bottled water in taste tests. Water in the rest of the country must really suck for Poland Spring to have a viable business model.

I'm extremely lucky to have well water here that is undoubtedly the best water I've ever tasted outside of Switzerland.

Poland Springs tastes decent to me, though I go for tap water myself. Josh's aunt swears by it, but not because of tastes. It's better for her allergies.
