That's right--I applied for a job working as a canvasser for the Working Families Party. I disagree with everything that they stand for, but hey--a job's a job.

Luckily, they didn't hire me.

Ultimately, I disagree with fusion politics as well. I think that political parties should consist of insular groups trying to advance their agendas--an amalgamated group, which is what fusion politics is leading to, is just too incoherent to be worthwhile.

WF isn't a proper third party. It was started not by the "grassroots" but by local Democratic Party bigwig and union leader Dennis Rivera. It's a graft party -- if they can get X votes for whatevcer Dems are running, they can then go to Albany and say "We want stuf and we got you in office." Given the horror of machine Democrats in NY, fusion parties are important to make sure that people continue to fuck themselves over while feeling good about it.

The Liberal Party did the same for years, before misstepping by endorsing Giuliani.
