I skipped out on my fifth-anniversary high school reunion. I was depressed and dejected over having done nothing with my life and still living with my parents. A few of my old buddies missed me and we met for pizza later on.

I was going to skip the 20th, partly because of the done-nothing thing (though at least I’m well out of my parent’s place), but also because of the cost. But I’d been moderating the class mailing list, and the reunion organizers chipped in and covered me, and I couldn’t very well turn them down.

Damn, I am so glad I went. I was amazed at the number of people who remember me. At the number of shaven heads. At how different people looked, and how different they didn’t. (Most of the women looked pretty much the same. Most of the men — Jesus fuck a monkey!) At the things I’d forgotten about. (Jabberhockey!) At how well “Tainted Love” stands up after all these years. At the fact that someone I had a crush on when I was, like, eight years old thought I was brilliant. At how much fun I had.

That's cool. I've always been bummed that we never had any reunions for my highschool other than one really random lame one where very few people showed up. It was interesting to see how people saw me and how they had changed, but it was also odd, cause I only went to my graduating highschool for three years and wasn't particularly popular or liked until the very end of my last year. So I honestly didn't know hardly anyone at all it seems now. Or I've pretty much forgotten everything.
