Today’s comics haul:

City of Tomorrow #1 of 6
Writing and art by Howard Chaykin, color by Michelle Madsen. I don’t often see the colorist given cover credit. Published by Wildstorm.
Skip this. It’s hard to follow, partly because most of the male characters look like Chaykin’s Standard Male Protagonist, but also because it jumps back and forth between two storylines, one taking place over the course of years or decades. Lots of contextless betrayal and anger. A dirty bomb hidden in a baby’s corpse for no reason that I can figure. Not much sense.

Easy Way #1
Written by Christopher E Long, art by Andy Kuhn. Published by IDW.
Well-done crime comic. Bunch of small-time fuck-ups in a drug recovery program get talked into pulling a heist. The opening pages reveal how things will turn out — badly — and the rest is a flashback. Pacing’s good; we got a decent chunk of plot for one issue of a floppy. Simple two-color art, and Kuhn isn’t afraid of the solid black. Not great, but good. I might get the trade, if they come out with one.

Runaways vol 3
Haven’t read it yet.
