Sketchbook dump

Hey, look, I did do some drawing! This first one is in my new sketchbook, picked up at Barnes & Noble. (Spiral-bound, 7x10, a good fit for the open back pocket of my current bag. Nice, slick paper that takes marker well. I think it’s made especially for B&N, and the only store I’ve seen it at is the one on 23rd St, so I may have a hard time getting more. It’s got an ISBN number, but the BN.com site doesn’t have it in their database.) Preliminary drawing in non-photo blue mechanical pencil, inked with obscure Japanese brush marker, and Pitt and Pigma Micron fine-point markers. The foot done at GC last Friday, the head done at work today while our connection to the network drive was down. Feels good to be obsessively cross-hatching again.

The rest are pages from the Moleskine 5x8 sketchbook I was carrying for a while. I found that Sakura Gelly Roll gel pens work really well on the thick, slick Moleskine sketch paper, so I made a couple of loops of electrical tape around the spine of the book to hold a pen. Handy.
Let’s see... This first pair of pages has stuff drawn while sitting on
