Didn’t get in to ComicCon
Feb. 26th, 2006 11:12 pmI hear ComicCon suffered from massive org problems. I couldn’t even get in; I went over Saturday afternoon and was told it was all sold out. I later heard that even people with pre-bought tickets were being turned away. But I wandered around the Javits looking for a bathroom, and ran into someone I knew from the old NYUSFS days, and she clued me in to a party being held in a nearby bar later in the evening. I also scored some SVA portfolio comics from the freebies table, and I could totally have just walked right in to the big movie/speech area and sat down, but instead I called
cthulhia (in town to see Avenue Q), and organized an opportunity to hook up, which failed due to my taking a wrong train and detouring into Brooklyn.
So I killed some time at a Starbucks, and then at a Barnes & Noble, and then went to that party, where I ran into some more old NYUSFS folks, then my phone rang, and it was Cthulhia and Purple just a few blocks away, so we had Thai food, and then C and I went to bars, some of which we even drank in. So fie on ComicCon anyway.
