I need to start getting up earlier (he wrote at 2 AM). Got up around noon today, discovered that the soy hot dogs are even worse than soy bacon was (I’ve been experimenting with soy meat substitutes, not planning to eliminate red meat, just cut down on it a bit) and that I really should have gotten the portabella mushrooms instead of these white ones, did the gym thang for about 2.5 hours, and then schlepped up to Queens to hang with Lisa while she did laundry and waited for Josh to get home, which he did eventually. Then we played a couple of games of Switch, which is quick, simple, entertaining, and portable, all good things in a game.

New comics are out on Tuesday this week, instead of Wednesday. Looks like there’s a new issue of New X-Men out (#132), just a week after #131. What’s up with that? And the JLA/Planetary crossover is supposed to be out. Also new issues of Dork, Castle Waiting, Powers, and Filth. Altogether about $20 worth of comics for me.

If you were trying something other than Morningside Farms, it's not surprising you didn't enjoy it.

Try them. They were one of the first "breakthrough" fake meat concerns, and I think they're still the best.

My considered opinion is that the way to use soy instead of meat is to eat tofu in recipes designed for it. And if the goal is to cut down on meat, instead of eliminating it, a lot can be done by things like, oh, a pasta sauce that uses less ground meat and more mushroom and pepper; a smaller serving of roast whatever and more veggies and rice.

so I can catch up on all his comic books.

(I need to find the one copy of Dork I ever bought -- for the rock, paper, scissors story, of course.)

I've been staying up all night & sleeping late since I was a toddler, and I know it can be a bitch. Here's some advice I've received over the years:
1. Don't drink caffeine after noon;
2. Exercise in the morning, not the evening;
3. Stay off your bed except when you're going to sleep;
4. Don't eat a full meal in the evening;
5. Keep the bed clean and keep the bedroom cool;
6. The toughest advice of all: Don't watch TV, or use a computer, after 10 PM.
Follow or ignore all this advice as you wish. I break them all the time myself.
