It turns out that I must immediately destroy the Software, for is removed from here because it contains a virus. Or so some New Zealander named Heather is telling my via email. Who knew? I’m reminded of that guy from the “High Society” story arc of Cerebus who kept trying to sell the idea of indoor plumbing in broken language to people who thought he was nuts. “Away the sewage! Fifty percent guaranteed smell!”

This has something to do with the Klez worm, one of those things I haven’t been paying attention to because I’m a Mac user who doesn’t use a Microsoft email client. I used to use Eudora, but switched over to SweetMail last year when Eudora kept crashing. Away the software!

I'm downloading SweetMail now to give it a try. For anyone else doing this, note that the URL in the English download link has "b4" in it, but "b6" is the current version.

The mac.com site puts up a "no such account" message, but in fact it's just that neither the "b4" file nor any default files are available. The Official Japanese Home page is on mac.com and works fine, also has a link to the "b6" version which works fine.

Namera B6 (the SweetMail link pointed to Namera B4) doesn't seem to work with 10.2.1: preference and account set-up goes okay, but the program crashes pretty fast once it actually starts trying to do IMAP transfers.

Another item to keep you from upgrading, I guess. The Namera user interface was pretty nifty, looked as if it would be very nice with the fonts and color-coding with filter results turned on.
