Sketching Buffy

A dreary, rainy day. I slept later than I ought, did laundry, and was going to go to the gym for some treadmilling then go to the rassef meeting, but about one block from my apartment before deciding it was just too crappy a day. No, this isn’t me bailing on my workout commitment — I discovered earlier this year that five days a week is enough to get the weight off, so I can skip one day (in addition to taking off Saturday, which I usually do). I suppose it is me bailing on having a social life, but I’ll be hanging out with people tomorrow for comics, dinner, and NYRSF.
I did some grocery shopping, and now have a fridge fully stocked with nummy protein sources and veggies. Had salmon steak for dinner, with sautéed mushrooms and green beans. Mmmmm.
Tonight’s Buffy was really good. I’d been getting tired of just seeing forshadowing of this season’s Big Bad, and been wanting some actual Evil to start showing up, and well, it’s starting. Really well done, too. An amazing juxtaposition of moods, switching from horror to comedy to sorrow and back. Joss is in top form. Shame Amber Benson couldn’t be in it.
I’m working on my drawing-real-people skills again. This is my second shot at Buffy/SMG, working from a photo I found on a fan site. My first attempt looked a lot more like Cordelia. This one isn’t quite there yet, but it’s moving in the right direction. I’ve got a better handle on what features of Gellar’s to exaggerate than I had with Willow.
