Uppiddy-whup-hupdate
Jan. 4th, 2003 09:16 pmSchno-o-ork! I seem to be catching a cold — my throat is scratchy today, and yesterday my nose went into Infinite Snot Production mode for a bit. Bleah. Also a little headachey, and only one Advil left, and I’m not done, and I won’t be till my head falls off!
Hubby goodness!
bigscary gifted me with an old LAN hub last week at GC, so for the past few days the household has been able to netsurf simultaneously three to a table, no room for dinner or munchies. It’s the diet plan for net.junkies.
Does this packet smell unencrypted to you? JI gave us a wireless hub last night, which is tenaciously grasping a conviction that it’s still part of his network. Once we’ve broken its will, then it’s goodbye to this ratsnest Ethernet cable horror from out of the 20th century and hello footloose net-surfing via my TiBook’s built-in Airport card! Actually, it’s probably hello me going up to my room and never being seen again. On the plus side, hello me having a net-connected computer hooked up to my scanner in the same room as my drawing table, it’s so nice to have you back where you belong.
Feedback gets results. I posted to my weblog for the first time in over a month, mostly because Patrick and Avedon were double-teaming me about it in email and AIM. (Me: “At least you're not pulling a Good Cop/Bad Cop routine” Avedon: “No, we are both the bad cop”)
Domestic news. The apartment is gradually evolving up from primordial box-jungle up to an actual livable space. I’ve been drilling holes and screwing fixtures in, sometimes even with an actual purpose in mind, while
ladymondegreen and
akawil spent a good part of the day playing full-body 3-D Tetris in her room. (Wil: “More like Sokoban, since the boxes don’t go away.”) The kitchen’s about half as cluttered as it was a couple days ago, and I’ve got a treyf pan and spatula to go with the dozen lean burger patties sitting in the freezer.
Stupid Steve! My Internet Preferences control panel refuses to remember my choice of web browser. Pain in the ass. I spent a good chunk of this afternoon hunting through tech fora and tip boards looking for a fix. None of the suggestions have worked yet.
