- Weight: 279. Pretty good progress at getting back down to my pre-Passover weight.
- Waistline: 52 inches. Grumble; I was sure it’d be no bigger than 50.
- Dumbbell squat: 3 sets of 15 reps with 18-lb weights.
- Dumbbell straight-back straight-leg deadlift: 3 sets of 15 reps with 21-lb weights.
- Single-legged calf raise: 2 sets of 20 reps with 9-lb weight. Could only just barely complete second set with either leg. Improvement since last August, when it was all I could do to get past 13 reps on the first set.
- Ab crunches: 2 sets of 20 Hot Point crunches, and 2 sets of 20 penguins instead of my usual 1.
Last night’s Buffy was a rerun. (If the rumors I’ve heard are right, it should be new episodes from here on to the end.)
I’ve been wondering if they chose this episode — the first one where she fights the grr-arg guy — for a reason. My first thought was that it might be to demonstrate to people who missed the earlier eps just how tough the grr-arg guys (and Buffy’s being threatened with an army of them) are.
Then I realized that the episode has two Joyce visitations. I’m pretty sure that this really is Joyce, or at least that it really is something other than the First Evil (ladymondegreen speculates that there might also be a First Good), if for no other reason than that the characters all think it’s not, and that she seems to come with different special effects.
Anyway, everyone seems to be swallowing the First Evil’s line about how it’s the origin of all evil, while Joyce says that evil is a part of human nature. I’m guessing that this will turn out important.
